Saddle Assessment
On-Site Assessment
An on-site assessment will walk you through the current fit of your saddle and any saddles you may be interested in or using on your horse. This appointment is designed to give you a thorough understanding of the saddle’s fit, as well as your horse’s needs.
First we start by explaining the basic components of the saddle, be it English or Western construction. By understanding how the saddle is made, you will better understand how different aspects will influence your horse. From here, we will go over saddle fit theory, and what we are looking for in a saddle’s fit to ensure that it stays balanced and stable now, as well as in future life of the horse.
We will then assess the conformational needs of your horse, and describe what saddle aspects will be required to accommodate those needs. Before coming to our Step by Step Tutorial. This tutorial is exclusive to Equine Balance Saddles, and has been designed to teach the basic components of saddle fit to anyone, in a way that can be easily understood and followed.
Virtual Assessment
A virtual assessment is a great option for those in rural areas, or those outside of our travel areas. In this appointment, we use photos and measurements to assess your horse and give you the most information possible about your saddle needs. We will also assess up to two saddles per appointment.
First, we start with photos from either side as well as looking down the back towards the wither. This allows us to get an idea of the profile of your horse’s back, as well as the breadth and lateral angles. We will then talk about your needs as a rider, and what style of saddle you are looking for ideally.
From here, if you have saddles already to be assessed we will request photos of the saddle from either side, looking down from behind, as well as a shot of the tree point/wither area. We will then give you a breakdown of how each area appears to fit, or any areas that need improvement.

Follow Up Assessments
For any clients who have had an assessment, either virtual or on-site, and would like us to assess additional saddles after their appointment, we also do a distance rate of $50 per saddle to assess saddles via photo and video.
